Indoor Activities
Engaging your Munchkin in fun and creative activities indoors can provide valuable learning opportunities and strengthen the bond between you and your Munchkin . Here are five enjoyable activities we like to try.
Obstacle Course: Create a simple obstacle course using pillows, cushions, hula hoops, and other safe items. Our Munchkins crawl under, jump over, and weave through the obstacles. It helps with gross motor skills, coordination, speech and language comprehension, especially when they hear you give fun instructions like “over/under”.
Indoor Picnic or Tea Party: Set up a pretend picnic or tea party in the living room. We use a blanket and invite our favourite toys to join. This activity fosters imaginative play and social skills, whilst helping them understand the world around them. We introduce numbers by counting the cups or teddies. ☕️🧸
Art and Craft Time: We get creative with art supplies like crayons, washable markers, finger paints, and stickers and our Munchkin’s imagination run wild as they draw and create masterpieces. We also make simple crafts like paper plate masks or toilet paper roll binoculars. 🎨🖌️
Dance Party: We put on some lively music and have a dance party with our Munchkins. Showing off our dance moves and encouraging them to move their body to the beat. Dancing helps develop their motor skills and co-ordination. It is also a fantastic way to burn off energy. 🪩
Storytelling or Puppet Show: We Use stuffed animals or hand puppets to create a fun storytelling or puppet show session. We make up a story or act out our Munchkin’s favourite book 📚. It encourages creativity and language development.
Remember to adjust the activities to suit your Munchkin’s age, interests, and abilities and always supervise and ensure the safety of any materials used during these activities.
Most importantly, have fun and enjoy quality time with your little one! 🦧🐒👩🏼
Have an amazing Summer!
